Well, we did have a FAQ page, but decided to write an article instead about items to consider when building a website! |

- Make sure you own your domain name - which means purchase it yourself or have your web designer show you the domain name is registered to you. You can visit whois.net , plug in your domain name and verify you are the owner of record.
- Many times a web developer will include a Google Analytics script on your website pages to track visitor information, then send you a report once a month. It may be you will want to see your website's stats more often than that, so be sure to get a user name and password to your website's Google Analytics account from the website developer.
- Search engines can not read graphics, only text and code. Include a descriptive 'alt' tag for the spiders to read.
- Use descriptive webpage titles to help the search engines find your content - a long runon numerical title tag doesn't help with natural search.
- Include metatags on your pages - heavy to the keywords and phrases people will use when searching for your services. See this article 'Simple Natural SEO'
- If you are selling products online, arm your shopping cart with an SSL certificate which will protect your clients credit card and personal information. Buyers are savvy today and likely won't purchase from your website without that security.
- Use simple, but descriptive language. Make your words envoke an experience as close to 'being able to reach out and touch' the product or service. Fill the descriptions with enough information to answer any question that may come up.
- Less is better than more - keep your webpages clean and concise, and always include a call to action.
